Just in these few days of reading
for this class I have come to appreciate the words of Jeff Sandefer. His
article on “Living Life as an Entrepreneurial Hero” has given me so much to
think and reflect on. In this article I learned to not limit myself to a lower
standard of life. My options are endless. If I dream big and work hard I can
make something of myself. I have become more confident in my capabilities. I
learned that the life of an entrepreneur should not be a selfish one, but lived
with a mindset of changing the world in hopes of making it far better for my
children and for others who will live on after me. I know that there will be
challenges along the way, but as I look to these points I will have a clearer
view of where my life is heading.
Four
of the hardest challenges will be personal, because you’ll have to
• Accept that life is hard and seldom fair
• Know that you must persevere to develop the habits and
character that will determine
your destiny
• Understand that choosing doesn’t mean you are in control,
and that real entrepreneurs
learn to fail quickly, cheaply, and often
• Find the right fellow travelers, because you will tend to
become like those who
surround you

I have stared reading in “the start-up
of you”, by Reid Hoffman and Ben Casnocha. Already I have immersed deeply into
it. The underlining theme of this book is how the greatest investment one can
make is in themselves. “I” am my own brand!
I have great expectations for this
class. I’m excited to learn and think outside of my little bubble of Jay
Hancock. What excites me more is to learn from my fellow colleagues and develop
good relationships with them. I’ve been taught that it’s good to speak, but its
better to listen.
My goals:
